How to Calculate Pool Volume?
Pool volume depends on the shape, dimensions, and average depth. For rectangular pools, multiply length by width by average depth and multiply by 7.48 to convert cubic feet to gallons. How to Determine Average Pool Depth?
Most pools have a shallow end and a deep end. Average depth is the sum of the shallow end depth and deep end depth divided by two. A pool that is 3 feet at the shallow end and 8 feet at the deep end has an average depth of (3 + 8) / 2 = 5.5 feet. For pools with a consistent depth (above-ground pools, plunge pools), simply use that depth. For pools with multiple depth zones (a shallow tanning ledge, a mid-depth swim area, and a deep diving section), calculate each zone as a separate rectangle and add the volumes together for a more accurate total.

How Long Does It Take to Fill a Pool?
